Instruction and Certification
IT'S A DIVE is a 5 Star PADI Dive Center located in the beautiful Florida Keys. We offer the highest level of scuba instruction available. Whether your goal is simply to "try it" by taking the PADI Discover Scuba Diving Course, to becoming a recreational diver and exploring the undersea world, or to enter the ranks of the diving professional, IT'S A DIVE can help you. All of our instructors hold advanced PADI scuba instructor ratings and all are Emergency First Response Instructors. Our staff is certified to teach over 20 PADI specialty scuba diving courses. We are eager to help you advance your scuba skills and knowledge.
PADI Divers Medical Questionnaire Participation in a PADI Training course requires that the participant be in reasonably good physical condition and he or she must complete the PADI Medical Questionnaire. Please click here for more information and to download the questionnaire.

Specialty Courses
This course covers project AWARE and aquatic protection worldwide. You will learn to identify characteristics of local fish families and species in two open water dives. Four-eye Butterfly fish and Juvenile Bluehead
This course covers techniques for diving from boats and discusses how dive boats differ from place to place. It also gives you experience and training for diving from boats and covers basic boat safety equipment and use.
This course allows you to experience diving beyond 60 feet. Learn deep dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and hazards for open water dives that range from 60 - 130 feet.
During this course, you will learn to use the PADI SEA (Shoot, Examine and Adjust) method, which takes full advantage of digital technology. The result is good underwater photos faster than you may imagine. You are not only learning how to take good photos, but how to share them with your friends via email or printing, optimizing your work with your computer, storage and more.
This course covers diver propulsion vehicle dive planning organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards. You will also learn about equipment considerations, diver etiquette and how to avoid harming fragile aquatic life.
Diving with enriched air nitrox lets you safely extend your no stop time beyond the no decompression limits for air. Diving with enriched air means more time underwater.
There are no dives required for this specialty. Please keep in mind that the PADI Equipment Specialist Course is not an equipment repair course, but it provides the foundation you’ll want if you’re interested in learning equipment repair.
In the course you will learn buoyancy skills, something that separates the good divers from the great divers. You will learn to how to precisely weight yourself for optimum control, poise and balance. By mastering streamlining, you move through the water cleanly, efficiently and gracefully.
In this course you will learn search and recovery dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and how to deal with potential problems. You will learn how to locate large and small objects using search patterns, and how to lift them to the surface.
In your journey to underwater naturalist, the course teaches you about the different major aquatic life groupings and how they interact so that you understand what you observe in the underwater environment.
Underwater navigation can be challenging, but in this course, you master the challenge by learning the tools of the trade, including navigation via natural clues and by compass. You will learn to estimate distance underwater and follow navigation patterns.
Whether you’re a casual holiday snapper or a photo pro, this course teaches you the basics as they apply to taking photos underwater, with a special emphasis on practical techniques. It teaches you how to have a record and log of your adventures – more than the memories. Reliving a dive is as simple as looking at a photograph.
Whether sunk intentionally or tragically, whether a sunken ship, a plane or an automobile, the call of wrecks is nearly irresistible to divers. Through this course, you will get the skills, knowledge and procedures you need to answer the call of wreck diving.
NOTE: Equipment rental is not included unless specifically listed. Students can rent any equipment they need for $30/course and receive a 10% discount on equipment purchases.
